A specialised technique within a broader strategy

Segmentopuncture targets selected deep hypercontractures, paravertebral regions or periosteal pain identified during examination. Controlled electrical stimulation may be used when indicated.

The procedure is preceded by neurosegmental formulation, anatomical localisation, contraindication screening and informed consent. It is followed by reassessment and, when relevant, manual or active rehabilitation.

The method is being developed and documented by Gerry Ivanov in Geneva. It is not a universal treatment and its overall framework requires continuing clinical and scientific evaluation.

02 · IMG CLINICAL REASONING

Requirements before the procedure

Pain alone is not enough to justify an invasive technique.

01

Target

An anatomically identifiable hypercontracture, paravertebral region or periosteal pain.

02

Coherence

A plausible relationship to the neurosegment, symptoms and functional tests.

03

Safety

Coagulation, anticoagulants, infection, pregnancy, fragility, implants and other precautions.

04

Consent

Explanation of alternatives, possible sensations, reactions and limitations.

03 · CLINICAL PATHWAY

Before, during and after

Asepsis, progressive dosing and monitoring structure the procedure.

01

Before

Examination, indication, contraindications and consent.

02

During

Anatomical targeting, sterile needle and controlled stimulation if indicated.

03

Immediately after

Reassess pain, mobility and tolerance.

04

Integration

Connect the method to relevant rehabilitation rather than isolate it.

04 · INDICATIONS

When it may be discussed

  • Selected deep hypercontracture
  • Paravertebral pain with a clinical target
  • Selected myofascial or periosteal pain
  • Persistent presentation after insufficient response to non-invasive options

05 · FAQ

Segmentopuncture questions

01Is it acupuncture?

No. Its reasoning, targets and clinical integration are distinct from traditional acupuncture.

02Is it used at every session?

No. It is considered only when a specific indication is identified and accepted.

03Are the needles sterile?

Yes. Sterile single-use needles and an aseptic procedure are used.

04Is the method scientifically validated?

Its components draw on anatomy and neurophysiology, while the overall method is in development and requires continued specific evaluation.
